Brand Identity + Print & Collateral

Royal Roots is a London-based braiding brand known for bold, expressive styles rooted in culture and individuality. Built around precision braiding and a strong sense of personal style, the business had already gained a loyal local following, but lacked a visual identity that matched its energy.

Inspired by early 2000s aesthetics, from glossy finishes to playful, feminine details, Royal Roots needed a brand that could capture that Y2K attitude while still feeling polished, current, and instantly recognisable across social and in person.

The Brief

When Royal Roots approached us, they had a thriving braiding business with a loyal local following, but no brand identity to reflect their distinct style, bold, playful, and unapologetically Y2K.

The Challenge

Crowded Market

In East London’s competitive hair scene, standing out visually is essential. Without a clear identity, Royal Roots risked blending into a sea of similar braiders across social media.

Style Disconnect

The brand’s personality leaned heavily into early 2000s girlie culture, rhinestones, gloss, and candy colours, but their visuals didn’t reflect that energy or confidence.

Inconsistent Presence

Without a cohesive system, everything from price lists to Instagram posts felt disconnected, making it harder to build recognition or trust leading to a loss of  consistency.

The Solution

We created a brand identity for Royal Roots that feels as confident, playful, and expressive as the styles themselves, bringing their personality to life across every touchpoint. Clients don’t just leave with their hair done, they leave with something worth sharing.

Playful Y2K Wordmark

A soft, bubble-inspired logotype paired with candy-toned colours to capture nostalgia while feeling fresh.

Custom Icon Set

butterflies, hearts, and star motifs were developed into visual language for backgrounds, stickers, and posts.

Social-First Design

A set of scroll-stopping templates, making content consistent, easy to update, and recognisable.
